While the Techers of the horde formerly lived in Pasadena, CA, the home of Caltech, almost all of them have left the area. (Mostly for the Bay Area.) Some have gone back to Southern California for school, so the Pasadena rose has been expanded to refer to all of Southern California. (I suppose I should pick a more generic icon, but it's hard to iconize smog or urban sprawl...)
